dropr

The story behind dropr

A side project born out of Wednesday night price checks, two little kids, and one too many times paying full price for something that was on special the week before.

The origin story

I'm a Brisbane dad in a single-income household with two young kids. Like most families, we're always looking for ways to stretch the weekly grocery budget without having to compromise on what goes in the trolley.

For a while, my "system" was a note on my phone — a list of URLs for products at Coles and Woolworths — and every Wednesday I'd sit down and manually check each one. It worked, but it was tedious. I'm also a data nerd at heart and started getting curious: how often do products actually go on sale? Is there a pattern? Are some things never worth buying at full price?

So I built dropr for myself. I vibe-coded the whole thing from my notes and my Wednesday workflow, mostly during late nights after the kids went to bed or during my commute into the city. It does exactly what I needed — nothing more, nothing less.

Now I'm putting it out there in case other families find it just as useful.

Why dropr?

Built for the rest of us

There are other price tracking tools out there — but most feel cluttered, ad-heavy, or packed with features nobody asked for. dropr is intentionally simple. Track the products you actually care about, get alerted when they drop, and move on with your day.

Made by a real user

Built to solve a real problem in a real household — not a boardroom.

Data you can act on

Price history and trends so you can see patterns and shop smarter.

No fluff

Clean, fast, focused. Track your stuff, save your money, done.
